Our School Values and Ethos
At Merrylands Primary School and Nursery, we believe passionately in the importance of recognising every child as a unique individual.
We actively promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
We nurture the growth of the whole child academically, socially, emotionally, morally and physically, celebrating all achievements in a safe, caring and creative environment.
Personal development is an essential part of any child’s education and at Merrylands Primary School the curriculum actively promotes ‘Growth Through Learning’. This allows children to develop skills needed for tomorrow and a positive attitude to learning, preparing the children for their next steps in the world. These include self-management, innovative thinking, and communication. Across school, children will be encouraged to ask questions, maintain high expectations of themselves and one another, overcome challenges with resilience and determination in a safe and stimulating setting.
Thank you to all of you who were able to take the time and respond to the school survey that included choosing new school values. Mrs Pryer and I were very pleased to see 100 responses, and we have tallied up your responses alongside pupils, staff and Governors to select the following new values for the school:
Respect
Perseverance
Kindness
These new values will help to build and strengthen our community even more.
